Buying and Selling

BUYERS

Our commission is set at 20% of the hammer price plus VAT.

Condition of Lots

Bidders are strongly advised to request and obtain a condition report on any particular item prior to bidding as descriptions do not neccesarily list all faults.

You are able to bid through several bidding platforms - our website, easyliveauctions.com or with the-saleroom.com. This allows you to experience the auction environment from the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, you can leave a commission or phone bid with us directly.

Each platform will have our full catalogue along with images available to view in the lead-up to an auction.

In order to bid online, you will need to register and create an account either through our website or with one of the above options. An additional 3% fee will be added to your invoice when bidding through our website.

once your registration is complete, you can enjoy bidding from any electrical device that has internet access.

Commission Bidding

You can leave a commission bid with the office by email or over the phone before the auction commences. The auctioneer will then bid on your behalf from the rostrum, attempting to win the lot for you as cheaply as possible. It is important to remember that your maximum bid does not include our buyer's premium, which is added to the final hammer price.

Telephone Bidding

We are happy to bid for you live on the phone. You will need to arrange this with us ahead of the sale. Once this has been organised, a member of staff will contact you several lots before a lot of interest is offered and bid on your behalf.

If you would like to request a phone bid, please contact the office providing your full contact details and your intended method of payment.

Making A Payment

There are a few options for payment. If you would like to call us, we can take payment over the phone - this is limited to £300. Or, you can make a payment using our online payment link which is attached to the invoices sent by email. The payment link has a limit of £300. Any payment exceeding £300 will need to be paid by bank transfer. If you are collecting in person, you can pay with cash or by card - there is no card limit for in-person transactions.

PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE WITHIN 10 DAYS OF PURCHASE UNLESS PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH OFFICE.  PAYMENTS MAY BE TAKEN FROM BANK CARDS HELD ON YOUR ACCOUNT IF OVERDUE.

Collections

Any customers collecting from our Auction House must provide proof of identity. If you are collecting on behalf of another person, we will require an email from the buyer confirming that the third party has permission to pick up their items from us, or the third party must bring a copy of the invoice.

In House Postage

We offer an in-house postage service; items can be packed and posted to you using Royal Mail Special Delivery - this starts from £9.50+VAT. We are very fair on our postage costs and will only charge you what it costs us. If payment is made before 1 pm, in most cases items can be packed and posted to you the same day.

If you would prefer to send your own courier, we will happily package items ready for collection.

There may to some exceptions as to what we can post so please confer with us if you are unsure. I.e. Batteries.

For our bidders outside of the UK, we offer international shipping with Royal Mail. The maximum insurance option available per parcel is £250, anything that exceeds that value will be sent at your own risk. In the case that your parcel does exceed £250, we are happy to split lots into multiple packages on request to increase the level of cover you receive. Otherwise, we can pack your items ready for a courier to collect them.

Once an item has been posted, you will be able to contact us and request your tracking number.

Please note: While a live auction is ongoing, staff will NOT be available to answer queries or take payments. All invoices will be emailed out to successful bidders within 30 minutes of the auction concluding. The auction usually concludes by 3 pm, which is when staff will again be available to answer queries and take telephone payments etc.

SELLERS

We are open for you to consign potential auction lots every weekday. If you require a valuation, please call us to book an appointment. We recommend doing so at least one day in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a free, no-obligation service.

Our commission is set at 20% of the hammer price plus VAT.

Any monies owing to you after the sale of goods can be paid by bank transfer, by cheque, or in cash - depending on your preferences.

We can add reserves to lots if requested, but they will need to be confirmed with the auctioneer.

If your item is unsold, we can try to resell it in the following auction. If it remains unsold, it can either to collected or donated to charity. We usually work with The Salvation Army.
