Online Bidding

We charge a 20% commission plus VAT.

By using this site you can view our full catalogue and bid online. This allows you to bid for lots from the comfort of your own home, whilst being able to watch the sale live through a video feed. In order to bid online, you will need to register as a bidder with ourselves by creating an account here

Once your registration and payment details are complete you can enjoy bidding online from any device. If you win,  you can either pay using a bank transfer or over the phone using your card. You can also leave an advance bid (commission bid) before the auction starts. Just enter the maximum amount you’re willing to pay and the system will enter the next increment on your behalf.

Registering to bid for lots at Alnwick Auctions is an easy and straight forward process. Simply visit the office on the view or sale day and fill out a small form which can be obtained from any of our staff, who will then process your details and issue you a bidding number. With this in hand, you can begin to bid on lots at your leisure. We advise potential buyers to allow a window of time for registration before their desired lots are offered for sale.

Commission Bidding

If you are unable to attend the auction in person for any reason, you can leave a maximum price with the office which will place bids for you. The auctioneer will then bid on your behalf from the rostrum, attempting to win the lot for you as cheaply as possible. It is important to remember that the maximum amount you leave does not include our buyer’s premium, which is added to the final hammer price.

Telephone Bidding

We are happy to take bids over the phone. Once this has been arranged the saleroom will contact you several lots before the lot of interest is offered and will process your bid during the auction with you. If you would like to request a telephone bid on any of our lots please contact the office providing your full contact details and intended method of payment and collection should you be successful. Acceptance of telephone bids is upon the condition of the office's approval and confirmation.
